My First Mother's Day

Yesterday was my first time celebrating Mother's Day as a mother! Well, as a mother to something other than my fur-baby, Layla.

It really was the perfect day. My wonderful, adoring husband sent me flowers on Saturday. Then, Sunday, we all (Paul, my mom, my dad, Emily, and me) went out for a delicious brunch, complete with mimosas! I could get used to this whole "Mother's Day" thing; flowers and wine? I'll take it!

Celebrating my first Mother's Day with my mama and Em. Three generations! And yes, we are bundled up, because apparently Michigan thinks it should be 45 degrees in May!

As I mentioned briefly, my parents were in town this past weekend. We had a great weekend just hanging out and spending quality family-time.

Me, Em, and my dad! Em LOVES being outside, even if it is stupidly cold...

Our little family. Minus Layla. She was out there, but uninterested in having her picture taken.

Em had a pretty good night, last night. She tends to get a little fussy, mostly between about 9 and 11 pm. Last night, however, we were ready for her antics. She got a calming bath, then we turned the lights down and listened to a calming playlist. Turns out Em really enjoys Chris Young. We think it's his deep voice.

We may have a new nightly routine. Until that stops working...

  1. What a great weekend. Mom and I will always remember it ... our first time to see the wonderful Emily, a first time to see our equally wonderful daughter and son-in-law as parents (you know, they may not screw this up as badly as I figured) and a chance to share Jamie's first Mother's Day. Concidentally, Saturday was our other wonderful granddaughter's (Riley's) 9th birthday, and Sunday was our own anniversary. We could not have gotten a better present than these three days in Michigan. ... Well, maybe a car or something. ...
