Wordless Wednesday

I love looking outside!

OK, so obviously this isn't Em, but Layla was standing guard while Em ate.

Out to dinner. Just hanging out on my Daddy.

I very much enjoy bath time.

I love my Nia.

Em's adorable socks.

Sleeping in the big bed!

My mornings. Sleepy baby with a sleepy puppy.

Do you have tickets to the gun show?!

My First Mother's Day

Yesterday was my first time celebrating Mother's Day as a mother! Well, as a mother to something other than my fur-baby, Layla.

It really was the perfect day. My wonderful, adoring husband sent me flowers on Saturday. Then, Sunday, we all (Paul, my mom, my dad, Emily, and me) went out for a delicious brunch, complete with mimosas! I could get used to this whole "Mother's Day" thing; flowers and wine? I'll take it!

Celebrating my first Mother's Day with my mama and Em. Three generations! And yes, we are bundled up, because apparently Michigan thinks it should be 45 degrees in May!

As I mentioned briefly, my parents were in town this past weekend. We had a great weekend just hanging out and spending quality family-time.

Me, Em, and my dad! Em LOVES being outside, even if it is stupidly cold...

Our little family. Minus Layla. She was out there, but uninterested in having her picture taken.

Em had a pretty good night, last night. She tends to get a little fussy, mostly between about 9 and 11 pm. Last night, however, we were ready for her antics. She got a calming bath, then we turned the lights down and listened to a calming playlist. Turns out Em really enjoys Chris Young. We think it's his deep voice.

We may have a new nightly routine. Until that stops working...

I like this picture because it seems to say, "I don't know what to do with my hands, and therefore I'm terrified."

Emily Raylynn is 2 weeks old!

Actually, she's two weeks and two days. And growing like a weed. Our first appointment with the pediatrician, Emily was already back up, and slightly over, her birth weight! When she was born, Emily weighed 8 pounds and about 1/4 of an ounce. At our first appointment, 5 days after birth, Emily weighed 8 pounds and 1/2 an ounce! She was also 20 3/4 inches, up from 20 1/2 inches.

We went back to the pediatrician earlier this week for her two-week checkup (12 days, really). Emily has gained over a pound and is now weighing 9 pounds 1 1/2 ounces! She also has grown to a full 21 inches long. So basically, she's huge.

 Just taking an afternoon nap!

This past week, Emily got to go on a few outings. She has now been to Target twice, a cookout, Kohl's and out to lunch! She did marvelously on all adventures. We also go on daily walks in the afternoon with her big fur-sister Layla. On one such walk she got to meet a lot of the neighbors.

It was recommended to us by a friend, that getting her out during the day would help with her day/night cycles, hopefully helping her to be more asleep and less awake at night. It seems to have helped a bit. She's typically waking up twice a night for feeding, every 3 hours. Sometimes she goes right back to sleep, other times she needs some coaxing.

Mom has to grade papers, but I insist on being held!

Yesterday, Em had her first tub bath! She was unsure at first, but once she realized what was going on, she was much more accepting.

I was being very clingy this morning, but I really just wanted to cuddle with Mommy in the big bed.

Today we will go pick up Paul's mom, brother and brother's girlfriend from the airport. Emily is very much looking forward to meeting and spending the weekend with her Grand mum, Uncle and Aunt!

Wordless Wednesday

Layla still guarding while her sister eats.

Our first outing. Emily loved Target!

First time on her activity mat. A little confused, but we'll get there!

Second bath went more smoothly than her first.

For all of those people who wanted to see her eyes open, this is her, at 4:30 in the morning. Mommy was not amused.

Refusing to let me get work done, someone insisted on being held.

 Both my girls napping.

The sun has finally come out and it's warming up! Emily and Layla enjoy our afternoon walks.

 Someone likes to cuddle :)
